Description
The 1926 Sesquicentennial of American Independence Commemorative Gold Quarter Eagle is a Gold Quarter Eagle produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Classic Gold Commemoratives (1903-1926) series. With a mintage of 46,019, this is a scarce issue. The obverse features designs varying by commemorative issue, while the reverse displays designs varying by commemorative issue. Designed by John R. Sinnock. Struck in 90% gold, 10% copper, weighing 4.18 grams, 18 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #7466. Classic Gold Commemoratives were produced between 1903 and 1926 in gold dollar and $2.50 quarter eagle denominations. Low mintages across the entire group make most classic gold commemoratives scarce. The 1915 Panama-Pacific $50 pieces are among the most valuable commemorative coins.
