Description

The 1923 (S) Monroe Half Dollar is a half dollar produced at the San Francisco Mint as part of the Classic Silver Commemoratives (1892-1954) series. The U.S. Mint produced 274,077 examples. The obverse features designs varying by commemorative issue, each authorized by an individual act of Congress, while the reverse displays designs varying by commemorative issue. Designed by Chester Beach. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9333. Classic Silver Commemoratives (1892-1954) were half dollars and occasional other denominations struck to honor people, places, and events in American history.
