1921 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Atypical Die Clash ADC-1C-1921-01
Error
Description
ADC-1c-1921-01 is what appears to be an atypical die clash on a 1921 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The C from CENT shows to the left of Lincoln, and parts of the IN from UNITED seem to be strongly clashed behind his head, along with a faint, possible O from OF. There may also be clash marks near the bow tie and in front of the face. The reverse has a clear outline of the back of Lincoln's head. The example sent in for study had been cleaned and has lamination (woody) problems; these may be hiding part of the clash, or they may be making it look stronger by masking surface damage where the IN of UNITED is clashed. Jason Cuvelier of MDC asks anyone with a better example of this die to contact him. The die was found by Cliff Reuter.
