About This Coin
The 1918 Philippine Fifty Centavos is a United States cent from the Philippines Fifty Centavos 1903-1945 series — 9th of 15 years in the series. In 1918, coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint. The obverse features a female figure standing beside an anvil, similar to but larger than the twenty centavos and the reverse displays an eagle above a shield. Minted during and after World War I, as America emerged as a global power and experienced the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties. A notable auction result reached $4.2K in MS65 grade at Stack's Bowers. Designed by Melecio Figueroa.
