Cross-referenced as FS-101 in the Fivaz-Stanton Cherrypicker's Guide, this primary doubled die obverse for the 1917 Lincoln Wheat Cent ranks among the strongest doubled dies in the early Wheat Cent series. The doubling shows strong spread on the date, IN GOD WE TRUST, Lincoln's coat, tie, lips, nose, and eye, with additional spread in the hair and on LIB of LIBERTY. VarietyVista assigns die markers UVC-1253 and DMR-003, with three documented die stages: Stage A in early die state is unconfirmed, Stage B shows a die scratch between the upper TY of LIBERTY at mid-die state with the reverse also at mid-die state, and Stage C in late die state is unconfirmed.
