In 1912, coins were struck at the Philadelphia and San Francisco Mints with a combined mintage of 705,083. This ranks 11th of 15 years by total mintage, above the series median of 586,695. The obverse features a Native American wearing a feathered war bonnet, facing left and the reverse displays a standing eagle with the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST. Philadelphia and San Francisco production. The 1912-S is a notable San Francisco issue. Struck in 90% gold, 10% copper, weighing 16.7 grams, 26.8 mm in diameter, with a raised stars edge. Across its variants, estimated values range from $2.6K to $36K depending on mint mark, grade, and strike type. A notable auction result reached $138K in MS67 grade at Heritage Auctions.
