Description
The 1912 Indian Head Eagle, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, is part of the Indian Head Eagles 1907-1933 collection. With a mintage of 405,000, this is a less common issue — the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 57% of production. The obverse features a Native American wearing a feathered war bonnet, facing left and the reverse displays a standing eagle with the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST. Philadelphia and San Francisco production. The 1912-S is a notable San Francisco issue. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $2.6K to $3.2K depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% gold, 10% copper, weighing 16.7 grams, 26.8 mm in diameter, with a raised stars edge.
