Description
This 1909 (S) VDB Lincoln Wheat cent exhibits a die clash on the obverse where part of the reverse N from ONE CENT is clashed between Lincoln's chin and bowtie. The die clash pattern on Lincoln Wheat cents characteristically shows reverse lettering transferred to the obverse portrait area when the dies strike each other without a planchet between them. The 1909-S VDB is the most famous key date in the Lincoln cent series, with only 484,000 minted, making any error variety on this date exceptionally rare.
