1909 Lincoln Wheat Cent - VDB - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-010

Description

1909 WDDR-010 is a doubled die reverse on the 1909 V.D.B. Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A Class II plus Class VI spread toward the center affects the upper left wheat ear, the right wheat ear on its right side and, very slightly, the E PL of E PLURIBUS UNUM. On some USA letters there appears to be a possible Class IV spread, westward, from an early hubbing, and the bottoms of some USA letters show master die doubling spread north. A distinct notch marks the C of CENT at its lower right corner. Obverse: a gouge (dot) centered in the opening of the second 9 of the date, and a short gouge extending NW from the top of the first 9. Reverse (V.D.B. type): a diagonal scratch centered in the opening of the C in CENT, and another running NNW to SSE into and out of the C. Russ LeBeau submitted the variety.
