Description
The 1908 (S) Indian Head Eagle is a Gold Eagle from the San Francisco Mint, belonging to the Indian Head Eagles 1907-1933 series. The San Francisco Mint struck 59,850 eagles dated 1908. The obverse features Liberty wearing a feathered Indian war bonnet, facing left, and the reverse displays a standing eagle with the mottoes E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST. Both "No Motto" and "With Motto" varieties exist after Congress mandated restoration of IN GOD WE TRUST mid-year. Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco struck coins. Struck in 90% gold, 10% copper, weighing 16.72 grams, 27 mm in diameter, with a raised stars edge. Cataloged as PCGS #8861.
