Description

The 1906 (S) Philippine Peso is a peso produced at the San Francisco Mint as part of the Philippines Peso 1903-1945 series. The U.S. Mint produced 201,000 examples. The obverse features a female figure standing beside an anvil, holding a hammer, while the reverse displays an eagle above a shield. Designed by Melicio Figueroa. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.95 grams, 38 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #90386. The Philippine Peso was the highest denomination circulating coin in the series, struck in 80% silver (later 75%). The crown-sized silver peso is the most impressive coin in the Philippine series. Key dates include the 1906-S and 1912-S.
