Description
1897-P VAM-3A Doubled 1, Pitted Reverse Discovered by Lee Tucker, April 1999 '''3A III23 · C3a (Doubled 1, Pitted Reverse) (190) ''' '''Reverse C3a–''' Raised dots from denticles through part of N in ONE from rusted die. '''DPIS - ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: '''Comments: # The 1897 VAM-3A is a late die state of the VAM-3, which features a doubled "1" in the date. The VAM-3A shows pitting in and around the "N" in "ONE." This pitting is different from the pitting on the VAM-6A, for which the pitting is below the eagle's tail feathers (no pitting below tail feathers for the VAM-3A). High grade mint state examples are known.
