Description
HK-267 closes Lauer's set of Midwinter Exposition buildings with the Administration Building, labeled "Administration / Building" beneath the hall, while the legend above shortens the city to "S. Francisco 1894." Unlike the other pieces in the group, the HK listing mentions no Lauer signature on this reverse. Its seal side matches HK-262 through HK-266. The Administration Building also anchors other Midwinter medals, from the center panel of HK-260 to the obverse of HK-246. The fair it housed was run by an executive committee formed to stage the event; ground was broken on August 24, 1893, and the exposition opened the following February in Golden Gate Park. This piece is aluminum, 35 mm.
