Description
The Manufactures Building gets its turn on HK-266, one of Lauer's small aluminum souvenirs of the California Midwinter Exposition of 1894. Here the legend above the hall spells out "Exposition" in full where the earlier Lauer pieces abbreviate it, and the label "Manufactures Building" runs below on a single line; the Lauer signature is again near the edge at lower left, inside a beaded border. Its other face repeats the series' modified California seal. Its architects ranged from the Old Mission manner to Corinthian, Moorish, Egyptian and East Indian designs, a spread of styles that gave the grounds the name "Sunset City." The same hall is named the Palace of Manufactures and Liberal Arts on HK-260. Aluminum, 35 mm.
