1891 (O) Morgan Dollar - VAM-1D

Description

This 1891 (O) Morgan Dollar variety, VAM-1D, is listed by VAMWorld as "Over Buffed Reverse" (1D revised, III2 1 - C3a); discovery 2009, revised 2010. The C3a reverse is an over-buffed die with a shadow outline around the top of the left wreath and IN GOD WE TRUST, and roughness in the fields right of the top of the left wreath, below the eagle's head, and at the edge of the eagle's left wing. The O mint mark is set slightly high. Later die states show die clash marks. VAMWorld's comments also note a small diagonal gouge between the eagle's left wing and body, about a third of the way up, and Liberty's jaw and chin doubled with the lips slightly tripled.
