Description
=1890-P VAM-4 Doubled 1-90 & Ear= Discovered by George Mallis, July 1964. Revised 2015, Brent Fogelberg 4(revised) III24 · C3a (Doubled 1-90 & Ear) (189) Obverse III24– Doubled 1-90 with 1 below upper crossbar as short horizontal spike, 9 strongly at very top outside and very slightly at bottom inside of upper loop and 0 at top left outside as strong thick arc at left over to edge of 0 space and broken arc at middle to right. Later die states show slightly doubled right inside of ear from die polishing. ''Die marker'' - Heavy diagonal die polishing line in T vertical shaft of LIBERTY. DPIS - ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # Appears to be the same as 1890-P VAM-8. # This is a good example of the "transient doubled ear" where the "doubling" is a factor of die wear as opposed to actual die doubling.
