Revised October 2004 by Logan McKechnie. 15A III215 · C3a (Tripled Ear, Gouges Below Wreath) (190) Reverse C3a– Three die gouges or flakes below wreath and above E of ONE, D and L of DOLLAR. DPIS - ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # One of two key rarities for the 1890-P date, the other being the interesting 1890-P VAM-25A. # The ear has minor doubling along the inner left side and tripling at the bottom of the lobe. # The Discovery Piece of the 1890 VAM-15 is a VAM-15A. # The 1890-P VAM-15A was made with the exact same pair of dies that made the 1890-P VAM-15B.
