1889 Seated Liberty Dime - Atypical Die Clash ADC-10C-1889-01
Error
Description
Strong, unabraded clash marks on both obverse and reverse distinguish this 1889 Philadelphia Seated Liberty Dime as ADC-10c-1889-01. Unlike typical die clashes where the transferred design elements follow the normal orientation of the opposing die, atypical clashes involve unusual angles or positions suggesting the dies contacted each other while misaligned, tilted, or partially rotated — producing clash impressions in unexpected locations on the die face. The coin was struck three years before Charles Barber's design replaced the Seated Liberty dime in 1892. MadDieClashes records the coin in the collection of David Elliot.
