Description
The 1882 Proof Nickel Pattern - J-1694 is a proof five-cent pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Design Reform Patterns (1880-1942) series. It uses a Shield nickel obverse from which Charles E. Barber took away the ball at the foot of the shield. About a dozen are known in copper. It is struck in copper with a plain edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1896, Adams-Woodin 1679 and Taxay EP1241. Cataloged as PCGS #62099.
