Description
The 1882 Proof Nickel Pattern - J-1679 is a proof five-cent pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Design Reform Patterns (1880-1942) series. It is one of the designs that led to the 1883 Liberty nickel, and its reverse adds IN GOD WE TRUST over the wreath. About half a dozen are known in aluminum. It is struck in aluminum with a plain edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1881, Adams-Woodin 1666 and Taxay EP1231. Cataloged as PCGS #62084.
