1882-O VAM-37A Doubled 18-2, Clashed Obverse e & us Discovered by C. Logan McKechnie March 2005. 37A III24 · C3a (Doubled 18-2, Clashed Obverse e & us) (181) Obverse III24 – Clashed die with faint partial incuse curve of e in We from reverse showing in space between hair locks at right of designer’s initial M and partial incuse us of Trust from reverse in right hair vee of lower hair edge. Reverse C3a– Diagonal die crack thru N of ONE as in [[1882-O VAM-38A but earlier die state without any breaks. ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # This is often quickly misattributed as [[1882-O VAM-38A. The differences are the spectacular obverse with at least quadrupled stars and the lack of breaks in the thin cracks through the N of ONE. In time, this may very possibly prove to be significantly rarer than the VAM-38A, which is not the rarity it was originally believed to be. # There is a late die stage of the [[1882-O VAM-37A that is an absolutely evil mimic of an early stage of [[1882-O VAM-38A. It has a nearly complete t clash with the wing line in almost exactly the same spot as the [[1882-O VAM-38A. Don't forget to check for those quad stars!
