A Mint record of February 19, 1878 found by Roger Burdette records that two half eagles and two eagles of Barber's design were struck in gold for the Director's office. Two are known in gold. It is struck in gold with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-8. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1768, Adams-Woodin 1549 and Taxay EP1120. Cataloged as PCGS #61939.
