Although no tail feathers show, there is extensive doubling and die polishing around the eagles legs, conclusive evidence of the conversion from an 8TF reverse die. # One of six known listings with a Broken N and M of UNUM, the others being 1878-P VAM-40, 1878-P VAM-110, 1878-P VAM-145, 1878-P VAM-162 and 1878-P VAM-200. The VAM-31 is recognized by PCGS. VAMs 31, 40 and 110 share an obverse. VAMs 145 and 162 share another. The VAM 200 obverse is its only use.
