Description
The 1877 Proof Half Dollar Pattern - J-1527 is a proof half dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. The obverse is William Barber's helmeted Liberty, which Pollock traces to a drawing Christian Gobrecht made in the late 1830s. USPatterns.com does not believe a copper example exists. Judd lists it in copper with a reeded edge. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1695 and Adams-Woodin 1519. Cataloged as PCGS #61867.
