Description
The 1877 Proof Half Dollar Pattern - J-1523b is a proof half dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. The obverse is George T. Morgan's Liberty head, long thought to be modeled on Anna Williams. Morgan cut four obverse dies and six reverses for the 1877 half dollar patterns. USPatterns.com says this number does not exist: J-1523a and J-1523b were misreadings of the Scott catalog plates that entered the sixth and seventh editions of Judd. Cataloged as PCGS #61863.
