Description
The 1877 Proof Half Dollar Pattern - J-1513 is a proof half dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. The obverse is George T. This is the first of Morgan's four 1877 obverse dies, dated to February 1877 by R. W. Julian; the reverse, slightly modified, was used again on the 1879 Schoolgirl dollar. At least nine are known in copper. It is struck in copper with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1677, Adams-Woodin 1521 and Taxay EP1041. Cataloged as PCGS #61851.
