Description

Bearing the coveted CC mint mark of the Carson City Mint in Nevada — which operated from 1870 to 1893 and produced coins prized as among the most collectible in all of American numismatics — this 1877-CC Seated Liberty Dime overdate preserves traces of an earlier date beneath the final 1877 digits. Overdates were created when dies from a previous year were re-entered with a new date hub, leaving remnants of the original numerals visible beneath the corrected date.
