The 1876 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1476 is a proof trade dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. It was struck from the regular 1876 trade dollar dies. USPatterns.com believes the 1876 copper strikings from regular dies were made for sale to collectors in sets, which were only partly complete that year. Two copper examples are believed to exist. It is struck in copper with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-8. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1629 and Adams-Woodin 1480. Cataloged as PCGS #61798.
