Description

The 1876 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1472 is a proof commercial dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. It pairs the Liberty at the Seashore obverse with the commercial dollar reverse, a fantasy that USPatterns.com believes was made for sale to collectors, repeating the 1875 design of J-1423 to J-1425. Two silver examples are known, both from Woodin's collection. It is struck in silver with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-8. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1623 and Adams-Woodin 1496. Cataloged as PCGS #61794.
