Description
The 1876 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1469 is a proof dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Metric & Stella Patterns (1874-1879) series. Its obverse is William Barber's Liberty at the Seashore design, modified from the 1875 version; USPatterns.com considers these trade dollar essais, and the silver pieces are on 420-grain trade dollar planchets. USPatterns.com has two listings of a plain-edge copper example that probably describe one coin. It is struck in copper with a plain edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-8. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1620 and Taxay EP1005. Cataloged as PCGS #61791.
