The 1872 Proof Half Dollar Pattern - J-1204 is a proof half dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Trade Dollar Era Patterns (1871-1873) series. It was struck from the regular 1872 half dollar dies. USPatterns.com regards the 1872 copper and aluminum strikings from regular dies as pieces made for sale to collectors in complete sets, cent through double eagle.
