Description

The half dollar expression of William Barber's revolutionary Amazonian design, J-1200 presents the warrior-like seated Liberty at the larger fifty-cent diameter where the design's powerful musculature and aggressive posture are even more dramatically rendered. Struck in silver, the Amazonian half dollar is one of the most celebrated American pattern coins, with the larger canvas allowing full appreciation of Liberty's sword, shield, and the eagle at her feet. The half dollar Amazonian is often considered the most artistically successful version of this controversial design.

Rarity Notes

R-7 to R-8. Very rare, approximately 3-10 examples known. One of the great American pattern rarities.
