The 1872 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1222 is a proof dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Trade Dollar Era Patterns (1871-1873) series. It pairs William Barber's adaptation of Longacre's Indian Princess design with the first trade dollar reverse, which reads TRADE DOLLAR, 420 GRAINS and 900 FINE inside an open wreath. One example is confirmed in aluminum, ex Green and Farouk. It is struck in aluminum with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-8.
