Description

The dollar incarnation of William Barber's Amazonian design and the single most famous American pattern coin, J-1205 presents the muscular warrior Liberty at the full silver dollar diameter. The Amazonian dollar features Liberty seated on a globe, holding a drawn sword in her right hand and a shield in her left, with a spread-winged eagle at her feet. Struck in silver at the Trade Dollar's heavier weight, this pattern represents the most radical alternative ever seriously proposed for the American silver dollar, envisioning national strength through a figure of martial power rather than peaceful contemplation.

Rarity Notes

R-7 to R-8. Very rare, approximately 3-10 examples known. Among the most valuable and iconic American pattern coins.
