Description
The 1872 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1220 is a proof dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Trade Dollar Era Patterns (1871-1873) series. It pairs William Barber's adaptation of Longacre's Indian Princess design with the first trade dollar reverse, which reads TRADE DOLLAR, 420 GRAINS and 900 FINE inside an open wreath. Five examples are confirmed in silver. It is struck in silver with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1362, Adams-Woodin 1244 and Taxay EP876.
