The 1872 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1213a is a proof dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Trade Dollar Era Patterns (1871-1873) series. It pairs Longacre's Indian Princess seated Liberty of 1870, with 22 stars on the flag and no name below the base, with the Commercial Dollar reverse first used in 1871; USPatterns.com believes William Barber carried out the work, since Longacre had died in 1869. The single known example was lot 289 of the 1892 Woodside sale, where it was described as silver-plated. It is struck in copper with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com lists it as unique. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1354 and Taxay EP870. Cataloged as PCGS #61290.
