The 1872 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1212 is a proof dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Trade Dollar Era Patterns (1871-1873) series. It pairs Longacre's Indian Princess seated Liberty of 1870, with 22 stars on the flag and no name below the base, with the Commercial Dollar reverse first used in 1871; USPatterns.com believes William Barber carried out the work, since Longacre had died in 1869. Over a dozen are known in silver. It is struck in silver with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-6. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1352, Adams-Woodin 1248 and Taxay EP868.
