The 1872 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1211 is a proof dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Trade Dollar Era Patterns (1871-1873) series. It was struck from the regular 1872 silver dollar dies. USPatterns.com regards the 1872 copper and aluminum strikings from regular dies as pieces made for sale to collectors in complete sets, cent through double eagle. Two are believed to exist in aluminum. It is struck in aluminum with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-8. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1351 and Adams-Woodin 1243. Cataloged as PCGS #61482.
