Description

Struck in silver with a reeded edge, J-963 renders the single-star coronet Liberty Head obverse and STANDARD wreath reverse in the metal closest to the proposed standard silver alloy that defined Linderman's coinage reform. Silver strikings held particular significance among Standard Silver patterns because they most closely approximated what the finished production coins would look like and feel like in commerce. The crisp proof surfaces and frosty devices on this piece showcase Barber's clean, elegant interpretation of the Liberty Head motif at the half dollar scale.
