Description
Beginning the fourth design group, J-945 retains the three-star cap Liberty Head obverse from the previous group but replaces the STANDARD wreath reverse with the regular-issue With Motto eagle reverse used on circulating Seated Liberty half dollars. This die marriage tested whether Barber's new Liberty portrait could function alongside the established reverse design that the American public already trusted. Struck in silver with a reeded edge, J-945 represents the most production-ready hybrid in this group, combining an innovative obverse with a proven reverse in the standard circulating composition.
