Description
Combining the three-star cap Liberty Head obverse and STANDARD wreath reverse on a copper planchet with a plain edge, J-942 exhibits the full medallic character of this design pairing without the visual interruption of edge reeding. The plain edge allows collectors to appreciate the die work from rim to rim, and the copper composition develops a rich, warm patina over time that many specialists find more aesthetically pleasing than the cooler tones of silver. Pattern scholars note that plain-edge copper examples often exhibit particularly sharp strikes, as the metal flows more freely without edge containment from the collar die. Cataloged as PCGS #61188.
