Description
The seventh obverse variant features a Liberty Head facing right with an ornamented forehead band, a design that distinguishes itself from the earlier headband and diadem types through its specific ornamental treatment. Paired once again with the Standard wreath reverse, this combination explores yet another portrait concept for the proposed standard silver dime. Struck in silver with a reeded edge, J-861 marks the beginning of a group that pushed the boundaries of how many distinct Liberty portraits could be developed for a single denomination in a single year.
