Description
J-830 pairs William Barber's new seated Liberty obverse with the STANDARD wreath reverse, struck in aluminum with a plain edge. Its obverse is William Barber's new seated Liberty of 1870, facing left with her right hand on a shield crossed by a LIBERTY scroll, an olive branch in her left hand and a pole and cap behind her, with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around and the date below. Its reverse puts 10 CENTS inside an open wreath of cotton and corn with STANDARD at the top. USPatterns.com reports that these pieces were sold in complete sets. Two or three are known in aluminum. It is struck in aluminum with a plain edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-7. It is also catalogued as Pollock-920, Adams-Woodin 1027 and Taxay EP654. Cataloged as PCGS #61074.
