Description
Completing Group 6, J-860 presents the modified Seated Liberty obverse and Standard wreath reverse in aluminum with a plain edge. Stack's Bowers has handled examples of this rare variety, confirming that at least a handful have survived in collectible condition. The aluminum plain-edge striking represents the most minimal possible presentation of this die combination — lightweight metal, no edge ornamentation — making it an instructive endpoint in the spectrum of variations that begins with the silver reeded-edge J-855.
