Description
The plain-edge silver companion to J-843, bearing the same diademed Liberty head without tiara stars paired with the Standard wreath reverse. Plain-edge silver strikings across the 1870 dime pattern series tend to be slightly scarcer than their reeded-edge counterparts, indicating either smaller production runs or lower survival rates for coins lacking the protective raised edge that reeding provides. The diadem obverse presents Liberty in a manner reminiscent of European coinage traditions, lending a cosmopolitan air to Linderman's domestic monetary reform proposal.
