Description

Presenting yet another obverse variant, J-843 features a head of Liberty facing right wearing a diadem with no stars on the tiara, and a scroll inscribed IN GOD WE TRUST curving beneath the bust. This more restrained portrait contrasts with the three-star cap of Group 3, offering a classically elegant alternative. The reverse retains the large Standard wreath with 10 CENTS and STANDARD. Struck in silver with a reeded edge, this die combination represents one of the nine distinct obverse/reverse pairings that give the 1870 Standard Silver dime series its remarkable depth and variety.
