Description

Introducing a third obverse concept for the Standard Silver dime, J-837 features a small bust of Liberty facing right, wearing a Phrygian cap decorated with three stars. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA encircles the portrait with IN GOD WE TRUST on a scroll below. The reverse displays 10 CENTS within a large wreath of corn and cotton with STANDARD inscribed at the top border and the date 1870 within the wreath. Struck in silver with a reeded edge, this is the most available dime pattern in the 1870 Standard Silver series, rated R-5 with an estimated 25-50 examples known.
