Description
The plain-edge silver counterpart to J-831, sharing Barber's new Seated Liberty obverse — with its distinctive liberty pole, shield, and olive branch arrangement — paired with the regular issue dime reverse. The combination of a revolutionary new obverse with an established production reverse was a practical testing strategy: by retaining the familiar reverse, Mint officials could evaluate the new obverse design in isolation without the complication of judging two unfamiliar sides simultaneously. The plain edge distinguishes this striking from the reeded J-831.
