The 1869 Proof Nickel Pattern - J-683 is a proof five-cent pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Reconstruction Era Patterns (1866-1869) series. It pairs Longacre's coronet Liberty head, with no star on the coronet, with the 1867 reverse showing a V above an ornate shield. It was struck only in nickel.
