1869 Nickel Three Cent Piece - Atypical Die Clash ADC-3C-1869-01

Description

ADC-3c-1869-01 is an atypical die clash on an 1869 three-cent nickel, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The clash is unabraded and affects both the obverse and the reverse. On the obverse, the Roman numeral left marks coming off Liberty's neck, and the laurel wreath left marks above the date. The reverse marks are strong: one shows Liberty's full facial profile, and in another, part of her neck sits in the top of the final Roman numeral while her hair left a mark on the lower part of that numeral. Bill Latour of South Carolina supplied the coin.
